Spectrum Shift

The spectrum shift allows you to move the entire spectrum up or down. This sounds almost like ring modulation, but the sound becomes simpler and cleaner.

How does Spectrum Shift work?
The machine makes a spectral analysis of a sound. A certain number of Hertz is added to or removed from all of the frequencies, and the sound is then rebuilt from the shifted spectrum. This is a large calculation so the spectrum shift is quite slow.

When shifting a spectrum, harmonic relationships between overtones become inharmonic. Melodies become changed, and the pitch may move down even though the spectrum is shifted up.

Values that may be set:
The graph sets values that control how many Hertz will be added to or subtracted from the spectrum. When the value is in the center position, the spectrum is not shifted at all. If the value is high, the spectrum is shifted upwards. If the value is low, the spectrum is shifted downwards.
